German Drone Startup Quantum Systems Raises $1.2B at $8B Valuation
Munich-based drone startup Quantum Systems closed a funding round worth approximately $1.2 billion, pushing its valuation to around $8 billion — a sevenfold increase in roughly one year. The round drew capital from major institutional names including Blackstone, Advent, and Airbus. The deal marks one of the largest private defense-tech raises in European history.
This signals that institutional capital — including one of the world's largest private equity firms in Blackstone — is now aggressively pricing European defense-tech at premium multiples. Publicly traded European defense names and defense-focused ETFs stand to benefit from this re-rating of the sector. Airbus's participation also ties a major publicly listed aerospace company directly to the drone intelligence theme.
Next NATO defense spending summit: ~Jun 2025. Airbus next earnings: ~Jul 30. Any announced European defense ETF rebalancing windows: quarterly.
