DTCC to Tokenize Russell 1000 Stocks and Treasuries — Pilot Starts July
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) — the backbone of U.S. securities settlement, processing $114 trillion in assets — is launching a tokenization platform for Russell 1000 equities and Treasury securities. A pilot program begins in July, with full launch targeted for October. BlackRock and Circle are among the major institutions already providing feedback during development.
This is the clearest signal yet that tokenized securities are moving from experiment to infrastructure. If the world's dominant clearing house puts real-world stocks and Treasuries on-chain, it validates the entire asset tokenization thesis and creates tailwinds for crypto platforms and tokens built around institutional DeFi. Assets like ETH, which underpins most tokenization infrastructure, and companies like Circle with direct involvement here, stand to benefit most.
