Lilly Acquires Curevo Shingles Vaccine, CVS Adds GLP-1 Coverage for Zepbound

LLYNVOCVSGSK

Eli Lilly is expanding on multiple fronts simultaneously: it has acquired Curevo and its next-generation shingles vaccine, which uses AAHI's SLA-SE adjuvant technology shown to deliver strong immune protection with fewer side effects than existing options. Separately, CVS has agreed to cover Lilly's GLP-1 weight-loss drugs Zepbound and Foundayo, unlocking access for millions of additional patients. Lilly is also set to present Phase 3 trial data for both Foundayo and its next-generation obesity drug retatrutide at the American Diabetes Association conference.

Why it matters

The CVS coverage deal is the most immediately impactful item — formulary inclusion at a major pharmacy benefit manager typically translates directly into higher prescription volume and revenue. The Curevo acquisition diversifies Lilly beyond its GLP-1 dominance into the large and growing vaccines market, reducing single-product risk. Retatrutide Phase 3 data could be a major catalyst: if results are strong, it extends Lilly's lead in obesity treatment and pressures competitors like Novo Nordisk.
